As DL3RTL/p I often operate on VHF and UHF from mountains around Berlin.

The picture on the right shows a portable operation from Berlin mountain 'Kreuzberg' which is 66 meters high and about 20 metres above the top of the city.

From this location I have an average range of operation of about 250 km. While Es I also had some QSOs to Greece. I usualy transmit in USB in the 2 meter SSB part.

The equipment consists of

• a self made portable 3,50 meter (138 inch) long 28-Ohm YAGI with about 11 dBd
• Yaesu FT-290R
• a transistor PA on 2 metres with 20 watts PEP
• an accumulator 12V/7,2Ah
• a portable mast from min. 1,20 m (47 inch) to max. 7,5 m (295 inch) height
